Ghana Exports Corona Virus To Niger

The Northern African country of Niger has recorded its first ever case of the deadly corona virus and the carrier is a man who had traveled from Ghana.

The patient is said to be a 36 year old Nigerien who works for a private transport company.

He is said to have also traveled through Lome in Togo, Abidjan in La Cote d’Ivoire and Ouagadougou in Burkina Faso, before traveling to Niamey.

A statement by the Government of Niger said the patient’s condition was stable and that efforts had been activated to stabilize his condition.

The infection has made Niger the latest African country to confirm it has coronavirus.

Religious leaders in the country yesterday issued joint statement suspending worship at mosques and churches to prevent the spread of the virus.

President Issoufou Mahamadou urged people to keep calm and to respect preventative measure.

Ghana’s case counts for corona virus has been rising rapidly with the number of confirmed cases now at 16, just tow days after it was only 6.

Health Minister, Kwaku Agyemang Manu  has said that as many as 600 people are in danger of having already contracted the virus after contact tracing showed that they had been in contact with already infected persons.
