The Board Chair of the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital, Dr. Bernard Okoe Boye has revealed that contrary to official government communication, Ghana indeed had an incident of the deadly Ebola that ravages some Western and Central African Countries between 2014 and 2016.
Even though the then National Democratic Congress (NDC) administration insisted that there was not single Ebola case in Ghana, Dr. Boye is now admitting that there was indeed a fatal Ebola case that was reported to the Tema General Hospital in the height to the outbreak in West Africa.
The Korle-Bu Board Chairman who doubles as the Member of Parliament (MP) for Ledzokuku, admitted this to the Ghanaian Parliament last week Wednesday, saying: “This country treated Ebola when a case was presented at the Emergency Unit of Tema General Hospital. So I have to tell you that my colleagues who received training just like how doctors are now receiving training for Coronavirus were able to handle this case in such a way that, not even one person got infected although we sadly lost the patient. But we pride ourselves in the fact that because of the preventive measures, nobody contracted the disease. Mr. Speaker, any country that was ready to handle the Ebola case can handle Coronavirus.”
His admission is coming in the wake of suspicions that the current Akufo Addo government may also be suppressing the true threat of the deadly coronavirus Covid-19 that is currently ravaging the entire world.
The government claims that some 33 cases of suspected coronavirus have all tested negative. However, a patient who exhibited symptoms eerily similar to the Covid-19 died in Kumasi about two weeks ago.
Meanwhile, Whatsup News picked up reliable information that a young boy of about 5 years old died on Sunday at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital after reportedly exhibiting symptoms similar to Covid-19.
A medical whistle-blower and the parent of the deceased boy (name withheld) have revealed that the young boy is not the first such case as they hint at a grand cover-up by the government.
According to our sources doctors have been asked to hush any confirmed case for now because of the potential bad press, public panic and the fact that the government’s promised quarantine facility is not fully ready yet.
Whatsup News called the Public Relations of Korle-Bu, Mustapha Salifu, who denied flatly that Korle-Bu has recorded positive confirmation of coronavirus Covid-19.
“No case has been diagnosed here, whether young or old,” Mr. Salifu told Whatsup News via telephone. He explained that Korle Bu has so far had three suspected cases.
According to the Korle-Bu PRO, the premier teaching hospital is well prepared of any such incident as doctors and all medical personnel have been trained for the inevitable.
Africa has been mostly spared of the epidemic until recently when Egypt, Algeria, Nigeria, Senegal, Togo and Burkina Faso reported confirmed casesWest Africa
The Ghana Health Service (GHS) had earlier said 33 suspected cases of Coronavirus in Ghana had all tested negative, However, Dr. Patrick Aboagye, however, stated on Citi FM’s Point of View programme last week Monday that one case, however, is still being tested.
“So far we’ve tested about 33 cases. All have proved negative. One case is being tested… All the tests were done here [in Ghana]. The tests are 100 per cent sure. We have the Noguchi Memorial Institute for Medical Research (NMIMR) and the Kumasi Centre for Collaborative Research in Tropical Medicine (KCCR)… For now, the two are enough,” he had said.
The Covid-19 which originated in Wuhan-China has ravaged several countries in Europe, Asia and America.
At the last count,
about 120,000 people have been infected worldwide with a total mortality of
approximately 4,000.
