-5yr old dies at Korle-Bu this dawn In Suspected Gov’t Cover-up
The deadly coronavirus is reportedly already in Ghana and a ninth (9th) case resulting in the death of a 5-year-old boy was recorded at Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital in the early hours of today according to reliable information picked up by Whatsup News.
A medical whistle-blower and the parent of the deceased boy (name withheld) has revealed that the young boy is not the first such case as they hint at a grand cover-up by the government.
According to our sources, doctors have been asked to hush any confirmed case for now because of the potential bad press, public panic and the fact that the government’s promised quarantine facility is not fully ready yet.
Also, the medical doctor (name withheld) who has spoken to the deceased’s parents claim the patience of doctors are running thin as the more the case is covered up the higher the possibility of the virus spreading.
Whatsup News called the Public Relations of Korle-Bu, Mustapha Salifu, who denied flatly that Korle-Bu has recorded positive confirmation of coronavirus Covid-19.
“No case has been diagnosed here, whether young or old,” Mr. Salifu told Whatsup News via telephone. He explained that Korle Bu has so far had three suspected cases.
According to the Korle-Bu PRO, the premier teaching hospital is well prepared for any such incident as doctors and all medical personnel have been trained for the inevitable.
Korle-Bu currently has holding centres in virtually all the various sections, Mr. Salifu explained. “Korle-Bu is a big place, each department has a holding centre,” he said, adding that if there was any such case, the standard protocol would be to quickly move the suspected case to a holding centre and later transfer the case to the National Treatment Centre designated for the rampaging virus.
Some of the medical professionals are reportedly grumbling because they are of the opinion that as doctors calling is to help protect life and the more they keep quiet about these cases the more they feel like they are violating their oath Hippocrates oath.
Whatsup News has not been able to reach any government sources yet about the alleged cover-up.
The sobbing parent of the boy who reportedly died of a suspected case of Covid-19 said today that he was tipped off by doctors he had a personal relationship with that his son died of the virus.
This would be an extremely rare incident if confirmed because experts working on the Covid-19 outbreak have noted that hardly does the pandemic have an adverse effect on children as its mortality rate is mostly among older adults and people with underlying chronic diseases.
Korle-Bu has been at the centre of a Covid-19 scare for the second time in less than a month. The first case was a suspected case that sent doctors running for their dear lives. The second case of a suspected Covid-19 was reported last week.
That case involved a woman who had just returned from New Jersey in the United States. She reportedly had all the symptoms of Covid-19, a situation that once more terrified Korle-Bu doctors, forcing several of them to self-quarantine themselves in their rooms and in their cars.
Eventually, a government-inspired statement from Korle-Bu claimed the case involving the New Jersey woman turned out negative after testing at the Noguchi Research Centre.
Incidentally, over 33 cases of reported coronavirus cases in Ghana have all reportedly tested negative, even though two weeks ago, a woman suspected of the disease died in Kumasi after briefly gaining admission at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital.
The Ghana Health Service (GHS) had earlier said 33 suspected cases of Coronavirus in Ghana had all tested negative, However, Dr. Patrick Aboagye, however, stated on Citi FM’s Point of View programme last week Monday that one case, however, is still being tested.
“So far we’ve tested about 33 cases. All have proved negative. One case is being tested… All the tests were done here [in Ghana]. The tests are 100 per cent sure. We have the Noguchi Memorial Institute for Medical Research (NMIMR) and the Kumasi Centre for Collaborative Research in Tropical Medicine (KCCR)… For now, the two are enough,” he had said.
Globally, over 120,000 people have been reportedly infected with some 4, 000 deaths. The pandemic has ravaged mostly the Western world and Asia and has mostly spared African countries.
