Embattled lawyer Ace Ankomah may have secured a ‘useless’ GHC 2.9 million judgment against controversial journalist and social commentator-Kevin Ekow Taylor and the name and address on the suit are none-existent.
On Monday, February 24, 2020, Ace Ankoma thought the GHC 2.9 million judgment delivered in his favour in the defamation suit by an Accra High was conclusive until, the supposed defendant revealed that neither the name on the suit nor the address on the writ belongs to him, so whatever claims he got from the court was null and void.
Ace Ankomah allegedly sued one Kevin Ekow Baidoo Taylor for defaming him by calling in a “thief” and a co-conspirator that helped to rob investors in the infamous Menzgold Ghana gold collectibles saga.
“I don’t know anything about the guys Ghanaians are reporting in their newspapers…I don’t have any idea. My name is not Kevin Ekow Baidoo Taylor and if Ace Ankomah wants to know my real name or registered name he should go to the US Embassy and he will know and also Loud Silence Media wasn’t registered in New York City,” Kevin Taylor stated in a livestream on Facebook Tuesday.
“Ace Ankomah should do his checks and I know that as a lawyer, the first thing you are taught in law school is to make sure that your facts are right and it is very important…if you get your basics wrong, it means what you think is a judgement against somebody is basically a piece of paper…The basis of Ace Ankomah’s case is weak like some old man’s ‘balls’.”
He also emphasised that no write was served him in the suit that was supposedly citing him for defamation.
“I never knew about it
because nobody has approached me with any summons, no bailiff came to my house
or office to present anything to me and said: ‘Kevin somebody has sued you in
Ghana and that you have to be in court or bring a rep in court,’” he said.
According to Kevin Taylor, Ace Ankomah getting his name wrong and also getting
the address of his Loud Silence Media, the medium he used in his broadcast
wrong indicates that he [Ace Ankomah] is not after him Kevin but a different
person.
“If you go into the system here that’s, USCIS, you will find my full name there
and not the name Ace Ankomah sued [Kevin Ekow Baidoo Taylor],” he explained
further.
On
Monday, the Accra High Court purportedly slapped the GHC 2.95m damages on the
alleged Kein Taylor.
Kevin Taylor who is based permanently in the United States did not appear in court, allowing Ace Ankomah to secure the judgment in absentia.
Mid-last year, Kevin Taylor, through his productions company, ‘Loud Silence Media’, has alleged Ace Ankomah’s complicity in the devastating investment scandal involving gold collectible company Menzgold Ghana.
Kevin Ekow Taylor revealed sizzling details of how renowned lawyer Ace Ankomah, the former Executive Director of the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO), K.K Amoah and several key personalities in the Akufo Addo administration schemed to dupe NAM 1 of a whopping US$ 50 million- an amount meant to repay stranded Menzgold customers.
EOCO is reported to have clandestinely introduced the companies that conspired to dupe NAM 1 to the tune of US$ 40 million.
Kevin Taylor claims he had evidence to back his claims and proceeded to ask Ace Ankomah specific questions which the latter never responded to
