Ursula Owusu’s Escape Route Bckfires

Attempts by Ursula Owusu-Ekuful to run from the infamous “Real owners of Ghana” remark has backfired badly as celebrities and her followers on Facebook descend heavily on her despite claiming the remark was taken out of context.

Mrs Owusu-Ekuful who is incidentally, the Minister of Communications was head in an interview on Accra-based Asempa FM last week that the Akufo Addo administration will let go of power because the “real owners of the land” have taken back their country from the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) whom she believes misruled the country when they were in power.

“…we will use our strength, our blood, our soul to protect [the land from being taken over by the opposition]. Nana Akufo Addo leading the Vanguard; Dr. Bawumia in support and all of us [NPP officials] all in tow; tighten your girds because we have taken back our country,” she said.

However, as soon as the interview was broadcasted, an avalanche of angry backlash followed, forcing Ms. Owusu-Ekuful to quickly claim the circulating videos of her interview were “Fake”.

“Please treat these broadcast messages with all the contempt it deserves. ABSOLUTE FAKE!! Thank you,” she posted Friday on her Facebook wall.

As soon as she posted the rejoinder, her followers mounted renewed onslaught on her for taking them for “fools” by describing a clearly coherent broadcast of her goofy statement as fake.

There were about 602 responders to her post and a vast majority of them were full of bile against her anger-invoking statement.

“This is distasteful. Withdraw and apologise and possibly change the way you communicate madam Ursula,” one commentator fired the loud-mouthed Communication Minister on her Facebook wall.

Another said; “You are a threat to our Democracy, Ursula Owusu. The earlier you realise this the better for you.”

Yet another angry commentator jabbed: “Madam it’s not fake. You are very disappointed with  your own utterance.”

Meanwhile, celebrities like the renowned stand-up comedian Kwaku Sintim-Misa (KSM) and actress Yvonne Nelson have waded into the controversy condemning the minister for her statement.

“The real owners of the land have taken over? What a highly intelligent remark from a truly respectable and outstanding citizen. Show her some love folks” KSM stated in a sarcastic post on Twitter.

Actress, Yvonne Nelson on her part warned that Ghana belongs to all citizens and not just a few families “Ghana is ours!!!! Not just for 1 to 3 families every 4years. Let’s OWN it properly….. Wake up guys!!!” The angry actress retorted.
