About 34 people have been confirmed dead and many others seriously injured in a ghastly accident on the accident-prone Cape Coast-Takoradi Highway.
The accident involving two Chinese-made Yutong buses around midday today, January 14, 2020, resulted in more than 29 passengers dying on the spot, say police spokespersons.
According to the police, 29 people died on the spot while five others died at the Cape Coast Teaching Hospital.
According to eyewitnesses, both drivers died instantly with both speeding buses run into each other in a head-on Collison at the Dompoase Junction near Komenda Junction.
Police accounts have it that one of the buses travelling from Accra to Takoradi tried to overtake a vehicle in front of it and ended up running into the oncoming Takoradi to Accra bound Yutong bus.
Officers of the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) and police have since swarmed the scene to salvage whatever is left from the bloody wreckage.
