The Peoples National Convention (PNC) party has announced that it is now mobilizing to elect its flagbearer for the 2020 election, less than a year to the vote.
A New Year’s message released by National Chairman, Bernard Mornah, said the slow build-up is worthwhile and that when events kick-off, the Nkrumaist party will also organize Constituency, regional and national congresses.
“We assure all and sundry in the party of our resolution to make sure that despite being late, we shall soon organize our constituency, Regional and National Congresses well as election of the Flag Bearer. We take this opportunity to applaud you for your fortitude yet again and entreat all of you to still rally round the party as we mobilize to reorganize for a stronger and vibrant party to secure the mandate of the Ghanaian people.”
The title of the press release is, “Stand Strong For Victory 2020.” Many critics believe the PNC is not showing seriousness towards the 2020 election. Its voicing on national issues, which has traditionally come from Chairman Bernard Mornah, has been conspicuously missing in contemporary times.
A while back, there was talk about uniting all the parties of Nkrumaist leanings, with the PNC and the CPP championing that cause, but the new year message announcing an intent to elect a flagbearer for 2020 suggests that move has collapsed.
