The Auditor-General has announced for the benefit of whom it may concern that his audit of the accounts of Ghana for 2019 will have a big room for the inventory of all public officials who are under obligation to declare their assets.
Mr. Daniel Yao Domelevo has therefore issued a direct order to all staff of the Audit Service auditing on his behalf to ensure that every public official who falls into the category duly declares their assets and liabilities.
“Note that anyone who declared, has a receipt issued to him or her when the declaration is made,” the AG emphasized in his directive.
The directive is in line with his authority as provided for by Article 286 of the Constitution and Public Office Holders (Declaration of Assets and Disqualification) Act, 1998, (Act 550).
According to the law, a person who holds a public office shall submit to the Auditor-General a written declaration of all properties or assets owned by or liabilities owed; directly or indirectly.
Such officers are to do so before taking office, at the end of every four years and at the end of the officer’s term.
