The new Chairman of the Ghana Revenue Authority, Professor Stephen Adei has kicked out the Deputy Minister of Finance, Kwaku Agyemang Kwarteng and Carlos Kingsley Ahenkorah, Deputy Trade and Industry from the board of the GRA with immediate effect, Whatsup News has gathered.According to reports, the two political appointees were ousted from the board to make room for the chief directors of the ministries they represent to be on the board.
About a month ago, Prof. Adei was nominated by the President to head the GRA board after the still-birth appointment of the Kwame Owusu, the former Maritime Authority Chief Executive Officer, whose scandal haunted him out of public duties.Already, Prof. Adei has started seemingly radical changes at the GRA. One of his first directives was that he will personally scrutinise the so-called “Protocol List” of items passing through Ghana’s ports.GRA sources say, Prof. Adei is practically acting as the Commissioner-General of the GRA following the retirement of the substantive GRA Commissioner, Emmanuel Kofi Nti, on 1st October 2019.
