Black Stars B forward, Joseph Esso, believes the team can get a victory over Burkina Faso in Friday’s quarter final clash at the Stade Lat-Dior in Thies, Senegal in the ongoing WAFU Cup of Nations.
The teams made it to the last 8 after recording victories in the opening round of the competition earlier in the week.
On Monday, Burkina Faso beat Mauritania 4-3 on penalties after the match ended 1-1 while Ghana beat The Gambia by a lone goal scored by Esso.
Esso, who plays for Hearts of Oak, is confident of victory over Burkina Faso, a team that has given the Black Stars B team some issues in recent times.
In 2017, Burkina Faso kicked out of the qualifiers for the 2018 African Nations Championships and this year, they have already beaten Ghana 1-0 in Kumasi in the first leg of the final qualifiers for the 2020 African Nations Championships.
“I think Ghanaians were disappointed in that game we played against Burkina Faso in Ghana recently but I want to tell the fans that the team will go all out and give our maximum best.
I am urging the fans to keep praying for us and to keep supporting us and we will give them what they want. We are assuring them of victory against Burkina Faso today.”
Success for Ghana will set them up in a semi-final clash with either Togo or Cote d’Ivoire.
Ghana is hoping to retain the WAFU Cup of Nations title it won in 2017 at home.
