Member of Parliament for Adansi-Asokwa, KT Hammond has assured the government that the Ghanaian Parliament will burn if they dared implement the controversial Comprehensive Sexuality Education (CSE) which has been smuggled into school curriculum.
“If this CSE is brought to Parliament, the Speaker of Parliament Aaron Mike Oquaye will burn the Parliament, the Majority Leader will run into the bush and die there, the Minority Leader will strip naked and jump into the sea,” he told Joy FM in an interview monitored by Whatsup News.
K.T Hammond hoped that his nephew and Education Minister, Mattew Opoku Prempeh will not insist on pushing through the CSE which has been described by civil society as abominable to the Ghanaian culture and which religious leaders in the country have also described as satanic,
“He [Education Minister] is absolutely sane. He wouldn’t dream of introducing anything that is abominable in this country. Definitely not NPP government and certainly not my nephew, NAPO. If it is ever the case that he (Matthew Opoku Prempeh) has come anywhere near it, I’m not sure that I intend talking to him again or dealing with him drastically,” KT Hammond stated.
Already, the CSE has been captured in approved curriculums and has been copiously referenced in several official documents including the 2019 budget, despite the cover-up attempts by the Minister of Education, the Ghana Education Service and the National Council on Curriculum Assessment (NaCCA).
Since last week Thursday, there has been intense public outrage when it was revealed that the sexually explicit CSE policy will be taught kids as young as five years old all the way to the Senior High School.
The CSE which was prepared by the International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPE) and lobbied through the United Nations bodies for adoption across several countries particularly in Africa, contains phrases that sought to teach children to accept all forms of sexuality and diversity.
The policy which has been fingered as an agenda of the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) community, contains explicit sexual content such as acceptance of anal sex and masturbation for children as a fundamental human right.
The Ghana Charismatic Christian Association (GCCA) with over eight million members have warned that they will rally their members to vote out the New Patriotic Party (NPP) administration for pushing the CSE through.
Meanwhile, civil society groups have also issued warnings that they would be mounting protests to ensure the government completely scraps the CSE.
Incidentally, reports have it that the Ghanaian government may have been given up to US$ 22 million to approve the CSE programme.
In the face of disapproval, massive disapproval, he next line of action of the Akufo Addo administration is currently unclear.
