Flash Floods Hits Tamale, Sagnerigu
A heavy downpour yesterday was enough to put parts of the Tamale Metropolis and the Sagnerigu Municipality under a massive deluge. In the flooding, the waters swelled up rapidly and invaded several homes in both areas, overwhelming residents out of their houses and forcing them to seek shelter from possible drowning in the rain. Two people have been reported dead at a suburb called Town Centre. Two others who sustained injuries have been admitted at the Tamale Regional Hospital. Another suburb in Sagnerigu, Filling Point, has also been flooded. Here resident complain that their Assemblyman has abandoned them to their fate while officials of the National Disaster Organization (NADMO) have also not responded with relief. Meanwhile properties worth several thousands of cedis have been destroyed as a result of the floods.
